Preface

With thanks to AI who revised my texts with great accuracy.
Thanks to IW who always supported me with love and patience during the writing of this book.

Do you know what it is to be an underdog?
All my life I had to feel like an underdog.
People did not understand me.
And I did not feel comfortable with the main stream.
Do you recognize this?

I am currently enjoying my retirement, but doing nothing at all, does not suit me. So, I wondered:
"How can I make a meaningful contribution to this world?"
This musing was in line with my attempts to write a book about the origins and future of life.
During my working life I have acquired knowledge and skills as a biologist, web developer, teacher, therapist and artist. And of course, as a human being.
I started my life as a child in the natural savannah of East Africa with lots of free space and wild animals. Although, I have lived most of my life in the overpopulated and overcultivated, highly civilized, high-tech Netherlands.
However, knowledge and understanding about life continues to fascinate me in terms of the past, present and future. That's why I decided to write down my knowledge, which I have collected over the last 60 years, and to share it with the world. I will also give some advice about the future direction that humanity could take.
I do not shy away from describing the harsh reality of life, or stating the harsh truth, with which I deviate from the 'exultance' mentality of Dutch radio and TV.
I think it can be as ancient philosophers once said: to achieve enlightenment, you must first recognize and acknowledge the harsh reality. Only then can you continue with your self-development and self-realization.
It is important to walk this maturing path together with others. Together you build the ideal future for people, in harmony with nature.

I would also like to thank everyone who is committed to preserving nature; as it is nature from which the human species emerged. We owe our past to nature and will continue to need nature's biodiversity in the future. For example, one day humanity will need nature (flora and fauna) while 'terraforming' other planets that can offer future generations a new home.

Knowing that I am doing right during my only time on Earth,
I wish you success and happiness.
