The Big Question
Many people ask: If God exists, should we be able to observe evidence of God in nature?
Science has transformed our understanding of the universe. It has explained lightning, disease, planetary motion, and the evolution of life. Yet the question of God remains open.
Modern science has not produced direct proof that a deity exists.
It has also not produced direct proof that no deity exists.
This situation creates an interesting challenge. Scientists, philosophers, and theologians often examine the same observations but reach different conclusions.
What Counts as Scientific Evidence?
Scientific evidence consists of observations that can be measured, tested, and potentially proven wrong through new experiments.
A scientific explanation must be:

✓ Falsifiable.
Many definitions of God describe a being beyond space, time, and physical laws.
If such a being exists, direct measurement by scientific instruments may not be possible.

The Discovery
During the twentieth century, astronomers discovered that the universe is expanding. Measurements of distant galaxies, together with observations of the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB), support the Big Bang model.
Current evidence suggests that the universe began about 13.8 billion years ago.

What Science Explains
Evolution by natural selection explains how biological complexity can arise gradually over time.
For example:
- Genetic variation occurs.
- Some traits improve survival.
- Successful traits spread.
- Complexity increases over many generations.
The Debate
Some people view evolutionary processes as tools used by a creator (Intelligent Design).
Others view evolution as a fully natural process that requires no divine guidance (Naturalism).
Observation 4:
The Absence of Observable Miracles
A common scientific question is:
Do we observe clear violations of natural laws?
Modern physics describes many natural phenomena with remarkable accuracy.
To date, scientists have not confirmed any supernatural event that can be repeatedly tested under controlled conditions.
Why This Matters
This observation leads some researchers toward naturalism.
However, believers may respond that a deity is not required to act through frequent violations of physical laws.
Again, interpretation differs.
