Abiogenesis

🌊 Life from Earth’s Chemistry

Abiogenesis means life started from non-living things.
It suggests that simple molecules slowly became complex.
Eventually, they formed cells—the building blocks of life.

- Early Earth had water, gases, and energy (like lightning).
- In 1952, scientists Miller and Urey made amino acids in a lab using these ingredients.
- Amino acids are the base of proteins, which are needed for life.
- Over time, these molecules may have formed RNA, which can copy itself.
- This process could have led to the first living cells.

Abiogenesis is the most accepted theory today.
But scientists still don’t know exactly how it happened.

 

Panspermia

Panspermia says life didn’t start on Earth.
Instead, it came from space—maybe on comets or meteorites.

- Tiny life forms like bacteria might survive space travel.
- They could land on Earth and grow in the right conditions.
- Some experiments show microbes can live in space for years.
- This theory doesn’t explain how life began—just how it got here.

There are different types of panspermia:
- Lithopanspermia: Life travels inside rocks.
- Directed panspermia: Life is sent by aliens (a fringe idea).
- Radiopanspermia: Life spreads through space dust.

Panspermia is exciting but hard to prove.
It’s not widely accepted by scientists.
