Nose-Bulb

I want to highlight one FAP (Facial Appearance Pattern) of all possible facial patterns that exist.
A typical phenomenon that can be seen in many mammals is the ‘nose-ball’ or ‘nose-bulb’ or ‘nose-bulge’, for example in a cat's face.
The nose-bulb is clearly visible in people with beautiful faces and on baby faces. It is considered attractive by many people.

From Eyes to Nose

The eyes of the other person can cause an afterimage in the eye of the observer.
This applies particularly to the round shape of the iris relative to the white of the eye.

Suppose you first look at the eyes of a person standing in front of you, and then your gaze shifts to their mouth. The afterimage of one of the two eyes you looked at coincides with the 'ball' at the level of the nose. If the tip of the other person's nose is actually bulbous, then such an afterimage is transmitted in your brain with increased amplification. Several saccades with afterimages of the eyes and the nose-bulb emphasize each other. This pattern repetition is experienced as a superstimulus. The roundness of the tip of the nose forms a feature of beauty due to the afterimages in our eyes. It accentuates the triangular shape between the eyes and the tip of the nose <facial triangle>.

Example of Nose-Bulb

The Asian woman below has a beautiful round sheen on the tip of her nose that corresponds in size to the iris of an eye.
The nostrils have a similar curvature to the eyelids. These are examples of form repetition and line repetition.

So, the Nose-Bulb is represented in three ways:

• An afterimage of one of the eyes regarding size and form, that happens to coincide with the nose-tip (when inspecting a face).
• A light-sheen on the nose tip, that makes the nose shine (as a third point in the geometrical triangle: eye-nose-eye).
• The tissue growth in the human face of a round bulge on the nose. This is maintained by evolutionary preference, namely: invoked by sexual selection mechanism.
