Over the Hill
The nasal bulb is considered attractive, provided its surface area does not become too large.
In older people, who are therefore well past the ‘age ready for mating’, the nasal bulb may have overgrown with cartilage. In biological terms, this is called an uncontrolled growth process (ontogenetic runaway process). Some beauty features continue to grow, even though those people are too old to have children. This growth process does not stop, because there is no longer any sexual selection pressure for that feature. Thus, no evolutionary filtering takes place regarding the continued growth of certain cartilage structures in humans, because very old people are usually no longer able to reproduce.
Most young females do not take into account when selecting/mating a young man, that his grandpa has overgrown cartilage-nose and cartilage-ears.
Asymmetrical Nose Bulb
Sometimes you see people with a nasal bulb containing a slit or groove in the middle. This is the evolutionary nasal bulb ‘in the making’ in that lineage. The nasal bulb is located in the centre of the face, where the growth structures of the left and right body parts meet (in the embryo).
Most people like a symmetrical nasal bulb; however, most people are not even aware of that shape of the nasal bulb. This is because our brain usually immediately corrects the images our eyes take in for afterimages and other visual artifacts. But unconsciously we still see it, and unconsciously it can determine the attractiveness of a face.
FAP and FAP or MAP?
Perhaps there is a small difference between men and women when seeking a reproductive partner regarding the following:
Men enjoy looking at a woman's face; a beautiful face can even be a prerequisite for a visually oriented man to engage in interaction with that (unmarried) woman. Generally, women find a beautiful face less important and pay more attention to other characteristics in the man of their dreams (for example: protection, loyalty, helpfulness).
This causes women (on average) to have more facial attraction patterns <FAP: Facial Attractor Patterns> in their face tissue. Men would have more neuronal facial awareness patterns <FAP: Facial Awareness Patterns> in the wiring of their brain. Thus, women have a more attractive interplay of lines in their faces that men can notice better. Actually, I would be better off calling this memory awareness patterns in men. So MAP instead of FAP: the MAPs in the male brain ensure that he sees the FAPs in women's faces better.
(MAP = Mental Awareness Patterns = Memory Awareness Patterns = Memory Acquisition Patterns.) I will explain this in the next chapter about MAPs.
Summary
So generally speaking, a male sees visual FAPs and thus has an input-sensitivity towards female FAPs that are the tissue growth patterns (output) in her face.
Input-sensitivity of the eye for FAPS, is caused by MAPS in the brain.
Output-development of FAPs in the face, is caused by GAPS in the human chromosomes.
