Genetic Acquirement Programs
GAP stands for ‘Genetic Acquirement Program’.
It could also mean: ‘Genetic Attractor Pattern’, or ‘Genetic Attentional Program’, or ‘Genetic Awareness Property’, or ‘Genetic Acquisition Pattern’.
The pattern retention of our memory is not only an intrinsic property of the way our brain is ‘wired’ by brain cells (ontogenetically) but is also a coding property that can be phylogenetically secured in our chromosomes (DNA).
Nature and Nurture
Phylogenetic formation of the brain means:
The DNA blueprint of the human brain structure itself, takes shape over thousands of years through genetic chromosomal variation in inheritance across many generations of people: from grandmother to mother to daughter to grandchild etcetera. This perpetual evolutionary formation is called a phylogenetic process, steered by natural selection (survival) and sexual selection (reproduction).
The blueprint of our brain is encoded in our DNA; this functional design determines, via our chromosomes, the embryonic structure of the brain.
From there, a new process begins to influence our brain called Ontogenetic formation.
Ontogenetic formation of the brain means:
Your brain continues to develop from infancy, throughout your entire life as an individual in relation to your environment.
The final shape and function of your brain are also influenced by your dietary habits, interaction with your environment, and your acquired learning experiences. We call this an ontogenetic process.
Genes
Certain genes in our chromosomes can cause specific facial features. Perhaps the most well-known phenomenon is that there are genes that determine our eye colour. This genetic trait is passed on from parents to children.
There are dominant gene traits (dominant alleles) and recessive alleles. In the process of fertilization, in which a new embryo is formed, chance is an important contributing factor. A baby will inherit traits from both the father and the mother; however, which trait is inherited from which parent is determined by a random process in natural reproduction. It also depends on which parent has a dominant allele, and which has a recessive form for a specific facial feature, for example: the shape of the nose. Since many body structures are formed by multiple alleles, the final result in the baby is often a random combination of many traits between man and woman.
However, if a man and woman select each other based on certain (visual) traits, the chance increases that these traits will reappear in their children.
GAP
Genetic Attention Patterns relate to those traits that are genetically encoded in our chromosomes and cause the following functions and features.
Due to these genetic traits (encoded in our DNA), we can better perceive certain facial structures in others.
The other person possesses certain genetically encoded traits that give the face an attractive shape as the body develops (cartilage, adipose tissue).
For example, my attention (as a man) is drawn to the woman I see before me, and I become aware of her beauty. The genetically determined facial patterns have an attraction for me, causing me to want to bond with that woman and have children with her. This increases the chance that life-functions, such as my perceptual abilities (and memory properties), as well as her attractiveness, will be passed on to our offspring.
In the example above, man and woman select each other positively based on only one trait, in this case visual beauty.
I therefore describe only one of the many love choices here, in order to better explain the underlying evolutionary process.
For this reason, I limit myself to one (visual) selection mechanism here, to keep the theory simple and understandable about falling-in-love.
In reality, many biological and psychological factors play a role in falling in love and subsequently having children.
Cybernetic Feedback Loop
These genetic traits of attractiveness and appreciation of beauty are merely reinforced through the positive sexual selection mechanism over multiple generations of inheritance, i.e.: from parent to child, to grandchild, to the next generation of children, etc. The chance increases that people who possess these genetically embedded traits (GAPs) will choose each other and want to reproduce with one another. On the sensory input side (FAPs), the ability to perceive certain facial patterns improves. The information processing functions (in the brain) improve through better memory representation and attention formation (MAPs) regarding the perceived facial patterns. On the physiological output side, the physical facial tissue-patterns improve.
Over generations, therefore, a positive feedback loop is created that improves itself, over thousands of years of evolution regarding human beauty and attractiveness.
Therefore, the evolutionary Positive Cybernetic Feedback loop between reproduction of two individuals over generations consists of:
A1: FAP → 2. MAP → 3. GAP → B1: FAP → 2. MAP → 3. GAP → C1: .. etc.
(A, B, and C represent the generations of descendants through a chain of marriages through time.)
This should be viewed as a circular temporal sequence of cause/effect processes that reinforce each other's presence in every subsequent generation of natural reproduction during hundreds of years.
